ON ITS SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY, LCW PUBLISHES ITS 2025 IMPACT REPORT
Marking seven years since its founding on 24 March 2019, Libya Crimes Watch (LCW) has published its “2025 Impact Report: Seven Years of Standing with Victims”. The report highlights LCW’s work over the past year, building on seven years of sustained, independent efforts to advance accountability and challenge impunity, despite growing constraints.
This report comes at a moment of particular significance for LCW. Since its establishment, LCW has operated as a survivor-led organisation, working closely with affected communities to uncover the truth and pursue justice. This is not simply a stated principle, but a consistent approach that places victims at the centre of the organisation’s work, shaping its documentation methodology, as well as its broader efforts to support redress and access to justice.
The report provides an overview of LCW’s work in 2025 across key pillars, including monitoring and documentation, victim support and referrals, advocacy and outreach, and capacity building.
Among its key highlights, LCW’s field team documented grave violations affecting more than 430 victims. LCW also supported 18 individuals in accessing protection and assistance and referred 11 witnesses to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
These figures reflect sustained, professional documentation, close engagement with victims, and the translation of testimony into tangible contributions to accountability and redress processes.
LCW Director Ali Omar said:
Continuing this work for another year under these conditions is not something we take for granted. It requires sustained effort in a complex environment with limited resources. What keeps this work going is the trust of victims and survivors. That trust is the foundation of everything we do, and what drives us to continue.
The Impact Report goes beyond figures, illustrating how LCW continues to operate in a highly restrictive environment, marked by shrinking civic space, entrenched impunity, and an increasing need for independent, credible, and victim-centred human rights work.
On this anniversary, LCW reaffirms that its commitment remains unchanged. Its guiding principle, From Survivors, Alongside Victims, for Accountability, is not a slogan, but a sustained approach that has shaped the organisation since its founding. Seven years on, the need for this work has not diminished, and neither has LCW’s commitment to it.
